The Florham Park Jaycees held their 21st Annual 5K Race to raise money for two scholarship funds this past weekend.

The 5K run and walk will kicked off at Holy Family School at 17 Lloyd Ave. on Saturday, June 10, starting and finishing in front of the school’s gymnasium.

Money raised from the race went towards the Billy and Ashley Streiter Memorial Scholarship Fund and the Jaycees Scholarship Fund.

The Streiter siblings, Ashley, 20, and Billy, 23, were tragically killed in a traffic accident on the Garden State Parkway on April 5, 2003 when a drunk driver slammed his vehicle into their disabled car.

The race kicked off with the singing of the National Anthem at Holy Family Parish and continued with refreshments, t-shirts, prizes and music for the participants.

Also participating this year were runners from Girls on the Run of New Jersey East, whose 10-week training course concluded with the race.

One of the Florham Park Jaycees’ most visible and popular fund-raising events, runners came from all over the state to participate in the race course through Florham Park neighborhoods.
